DC Comics is launching a Sandman Universe imprint featuring a new line of four comic books based on Neil Gaiman’s beloved Sandman series. Gaiman himself hand-picked the creative teams for each comic and is acting as the creative overseer for the line.
“The Sandman Universe has always been very close and personal to me and I am thrilled to open up the world once again to an extremely talented group of writers and artists,” Gaiman said in a press release from DC. “I get to see the joy in these brilliant people whom I’ve selected, as they get their chance to play in this world.”

- The Dreaming by Si Spurrier (2000AD, SUICIDE SQUAD)
- House of Whispers by Nalo Hopkinson (Brown Girl in the Ring, Midnight Robber, New Moon’s Arms)
- Lucifer by Dan Watters (Limbo, Assassin’s Creed comic series)
- Books of Magic by Kat Howard (Roses and Rot, An Unkindness of Magicians)
This new comics imprint, which is part of DC’s Vertigo line, will kick off with Sandman Universe #1, a one-shot by Gaiman and the writers of the four books, with art by Bilquis Everly and a cover by Jae Lee.
The one-shot will release on August 8, with The Dreaming and House of Whispers hitting in September, and Lucifer and Books of Magic in October.
